Chapter 2 Resource Editor Reference Guide

What Is The Resource Editor?

The resource editor provides an interface for viewing and customizing the different resources files delivered with PowerDesigner: it contains a list of values and settings that represent specifications for a particular resource file, in a format understandable by PowerDesigner.

On the left hand side, you can see a tree for navigating among different resource file categories, values are displayed on the right hand side. Depending on the selected item in the resource file tree, the pane on the right side changes accordingly.

Note   Caution
You should never modify the resource files shipped with PowerDesigner. For each original resource file you want to modify you should create a corresponding new resource file. To do so you have to create a new resource file from the List of Resource Files, define a name and select the original resource file in the Copy From dropdown listbox. This allows you to create a new resource file that is identical to the original file apart from the name.

For more information on the resource editor interface, see "What is the resource editor?" in the "Resource Editor" chapter in the General Features Guide .
