Before you can develop a replication system, you must create a Replication Server connection profile. Verify that the Replication Server and the associated database servers are running before trying to create a connection profile.
To create a Replication Server connection profile:
In Enterprise Explorer view, right-click the Replication
Servers folder and select New. You can also select File | New | Connection Profile
from the main menu, or click the
icon on the toolbar.
In the New Connection Profile wizard, select Sybase Replication Server, and click Next.
On the New Replication Server Connection Profile page, enter a name for the connection profile (for example, RepServer-test). Optionally, add any description. Click the Auto-connect check box if you want to connect immediately upon finishing the wizard or whenever Enterprise Explorer opens. Click Next to enter connection options.
The Replication Server Driver Details page appears, with the default values for Replication Server.
Modify the following input fields.
Specify a Driver and Connection Details
Field | Example |
---|---|
Select a driver from the drop-down | Select the Replication Server driver for your database. For example: Replication Server driver Default. If no compatible driver exists, click ... to define one. Click Add and select a driver template. Click OK to return to the Replication Server Driver Details page. |
Host | Name of the machine on which the Replication Server resides. For example: localhost is the default. |
Port | For example: 6000 is the default. |
User name | For example: sa |
Password | Enter the password for the Replication Server login, if it is required. The default is no password. |
Default values are automatically entered once you select Sybase Replication Server on the Wizard Selection page.
Verify the Replication Server connection by pressing the Test Connection button. If the ping fails, check whether you correctly completed the fields appropriate for your Replication Server.
Click Next. The Replication Server system database driver details page appears.
Modify the following input fields.

Host | Name of the machine on which the Replication Server system database resides. For example: localhost is the default. |
Port | For example: 5000 is the default. |
User name | For example: SAMPLE_RS_RSSD_prim. The default is your Replication Server connection profile name concatenated with "_RSSD_prim". |
Password | Enter the password for the Replication Server system database login, if it is required. The default password is the user name you entered above concatenated with "_ps". For example: SAMPLE_RS_RSSD_prim_ps. |
In the Connection properties frame, specify one or more connection properties, if necessary, by entering the text in the format KEY=value.
Verify the Replication Server system database connection by pressing the Test Connection button. If the ping fails, check whether you correctly completed the fields appropriate for your database.
Click Next.
The Summary Page appears. Click Back to modify any of the information.
Click Finish.
In Enterprise Explorer, a new profile with the name you specified appears.
If you did not select the Auto-connect check box on the Create connection profile page, right-click the profile and select Connect.
