Setting Web Application Logging Preferences

Use the log to debug Web Application Development tool plugins.

To set Web application logging preferences:

  1. Select Window|Preferences from the main menu bar of the Web Application Development perspective.

    The Preferences dialog box appears.

  2. Expand Sybase, Inc in the left pane.

  3. Expand Web Application Development and select Logging.

    The Logging dialog box appears in the right pane.

  4. In the Console section:

    1. Either select or unselect Enable Console Logging to have messages go to the console or not.

      Console logging is selected by default.

    2. If you enable console logging, click the down arrow in the Log Level field to open the drop-down menu and select a logging level.

      The logging level is set to Info by default. The logging levels are: Debug, Info, Warn, Error, and Fatal.

  5. In the Eclipse section:

    1. Either select or unselect Enable Eclipse Logging to have messages published to the Eclipse log file or not.

      Eclipse logging is selected by default. The path to the Eclipse log file is: {ECLIPSE WORKSPACE DIRECTORY}/.metadata/.log.

    2. If you enable Eclipse logging, click the down arrow in the Log Level field to open the drop-down menu and select a logging level.

      The logging level is set to Info by default. The logging levels are: Debug, Info, Warn, Error, and Fatal.

  6. In the File section:

    1. Either select or deselect Enable File Logging to have messages write to the Eclipse log file or not.

      File logging is selected by default.

    2. If you enable File logging, click the down arrow in the Log Level field to open the drop-down menu and select a logging level.

      The logging level is set to Debug by default. The logging levels are: Debug, Info, Warn, Error, and Fatal.

    3. Type the name of the log file that you want to write to in the Log file field.

      The default log file is jmt.log.

    4. Click the down arrow in the Rollover Frequency field to open the drop-down menu and select a frequency.

      The rollover frequency is set to Daily by default. The rollover frequencies are: Daily, Weekly, and Monthly.

    5. Either select or unselect Clear log file on startup.

      Clear log file on startup is selected by default.

  7. Click OK to save your settings.

    The dialog box closes. The settings do not take affect until you exit and restart the application.

  8. Select File|Exit from the main menu bar to exit the application.

    When you restart Sybase WorkSpace, the preferences you selected are in affect.
