Setting Code Assist Preferences

Specify the behavior and appearance of the code assist features (also called content assist).

  1. Select Window|Preferences from the main menu bar.

    The Preferences dialog box appears.

  2. In the left pane, expand Sybase, Inc, then expand Database Development and SQL Editor, and select Code Assist.

Insert single proposals automatically

To automatically choose and insert single proposals, select the check box. (Default.)

Show system tables

To display system tables when applicable, select the check box.

Show system procedures and functions

To display system procedures and functions when applicable, select the check box.

Show owner of table or view

To display the owner, select the check box.

Enable auto activation

To allow code assist to be invoked automatically, select the check box. (Default.)

To specify the conditions for automatically invoking code assist, set:

  • Auto activation delay

  • Auto activation triggers for SQL

Auto activation delay

Specify the time in milliseconds that must elapse after you type a character before the code assist is automatically invoked. Default is 500.

When you enter a character and pause before entering another character, the code assist feature automatically displays a menu of keywords you can select to complete the SQL statement.

Auto activation triggers for SQL

Enter characters that automatically activate code assist. Enter characters in any order with no separator character.

When you type these characters in SQL Editor, the code assist menu is displayed after the Auto activation delay (see previous setting) unless you enter another character.
