The outline view displays a tree view to show the structure of the XML document loaded by the XML Editor.
Displaying the outline view
In the Resource perspective, the outline view displays automatically when you display the XML Editor. If you close the outline view while the XML Editor is open, you can redisplay the outline view by choosing Window | Show View | Outline. If the outline view does not open automatically when working in other perspectives, you can display it from the View menu.
You can use the outline view to navigate through the elements defined in the XML source. Highlight a node in the outline view to move the XML Editor cursor to the XML source for the node.
The tree view includes different icons to represent different XML node types. The following table describes these icons.
