Using the XML Editor, you can generate a sample XML schema from a document instance. The sample schema matches the structure of the document instance and can be used to validate similar documents. You may need to edit the generated schema rules to tighten or relax the structure to accommodate your information set. To generate a schema:
Open the document in the XML Editor.
If the document is already open, save any changes.
Choose XML|Generate XML Schema.
The XML Editor generates a new schema that opens in a new Editor instance. For complex structures, multiple schemas may be required. The XML Editor generates as many schema files as necessary and opens a new Editor instance for each.
Generated documents are read-only and are not created in the file system. To create a persistent copy, choose File|Save As to save them to disk. You can edit the text after saving to disk.
