To use a UDDI registry in your project, create a UDDI Registry connection profile, which contains the connection information for a UDDI server. A UDDI Registry connection profile supports all operations described in the UDDI 2.0 specification, including searching a registry, publishing services, and importing deployed services and their WSDL documents.
You can create a UDDI connection profile or use the fully-configured default UDDI connection profile installed with Sybase WorkSpace. When creating a connection profile, you can select one of several preconfigured templates for many common UDDI registries, such as the Microsoft UDDI Registry. After you set up a connection profile for a UDDI registry, its icon appears in the Enterprise Explorer under the UDDI Registry Connection Profiles folder.
Once a UDDI Registry connection profile is created and successfully connected, you can search the UDDI registry by name, UUID code, or geographic region. After you look up a service, you can drag the service WSDL document into your Sybase WorkSpace project and use the WSDL document to create a SOAP service directly from the Enterprise Explorer.
In the Enterprise Explorer, right-click UDDI Registry Connection Profiles and select New.
In the Wizard Selection page, select UDDI Registry Connection Profile and click Next.
Complete the following information on the wizard pages:
Name and Description page
Field | Description |
---|---|
Name | For example: XMethods. |
Description | For example: My XMethods UDDI server. |
UDDI Connection Details page
Field | Description |
---|---|
Commonly Used Registries | Select one of
the available templates, for example, XMethods.
To set up templates for commonly used registries, select Window|Preferences and select Sybase, Inc|UDDI|Registry Profiles from the left pane. |
Inquiry URL | Enter the URL used to connect to the UDDI registry for searching, for example, http://uddi.trysybase.com/uddi/inquiry. If you selected a preconfigured template from the Commonly Used Registries menu, do not change the Inquiry URL. |
Publish URL | Enter the URL used to connect to the UDDI registry for posting services, for example, http://uddi.trysybase.com/uddi/publish. If you selected a preconfigured template from the Commonly Used Registries menu, do not change the Publish URL. If the Publish URL is blank, you cannot publish to this UDDI registry. |
User ID | Enter the UDDI server login you received when you applied for access to this UDDI registry, for example, usr7421. |
Password | Specify the password you received when you applied for access to this UDDI registry. |
Test the Inquiry URL by clicking Test Inquiry URL Connection.
If the message Ping Succeeded appears, the connection is working. If an error appears, check the URL or contact the UDDI administrator.
(Optional, only for users with publishing rights) Click Test Publish URL Connection.
If the message Ping Succeeded appears, the connection is working. If an error message appears, it means you are not allowed to publish services to this UDDI registry. If you believe this is incorrect, contact the UDDI administrator.
Click Next.
In the Summary page, click Back to make changes or Finish to confirm.
If you change the connection properties of a connection profile that is already connected, the connection profile will immediately disconnect from the resources and automatically attempt to reconnect using the updated information.
