Using Search in the Help

You can search across all online help documentation collections or narrow your search to selected collections.

Note

The online help topics come from several documentation collections, for example, Sybase WorkSpace Development, Sybase WorkSpace Server Administration, Sybase PowerDesigner, and the Eclipse Workbench. The source of a help topic is identified in the topic title bar. For example, this topic is in Sybase WorkSpace Development, which is identified in its title bar.

To search all documentation collections:

  1. Type a query in the Search field.

  2. Click Go.

The search results display in the Search Results pane.

    Note

If you previously narrowed your search using Search Scope, the settings for the narrowed search remain and all documents are not searched.

To narrow a search:

  1. Click Search Scope.

The Select Search Scope dialog box appears.

  2. Click Search only the following topics.

  3. Click New.

The New Search List dialog box appears.

  4. Enter a descriptive name for your search in the List name field.

  5. Select the topics you want to search in the Topics to search list box.

    Note

Selecting a top-level checkbox extends the scope of the search to all subtopics. Use the plus and minus sign to the left of a topic to expand and collapse associated subtopics.

  6. Click OK.

The Select Search Scope dialog box appears with your selection highlighted.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Type a query in the Search field.

  9. Click Go.

The search results display in the Search Results pane.

    Note

The narrowed search scope remains in effect for future searches until it is changed.
