Testing a Web Page

You can test a Web page you create on a server. You can use an existing server or define a new server.

To test a Web page:

  1. Right-click the Web page in the WorkSpace Navigator and select Run from the context menu.

    The Run On Server dialog box opens.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • To use an existing server:

      1. Select Choose an existing server.

      2. Select the server from the Select the server type list box.

        A description of the selected server displays under the list box.

        Note

        To change the order of the server list, click the down arrow in the View By field to open its drop-down list and select to view by Name, Host name, Vendor, or Version.

      3. To have the selected server be the default server for the project, select Set server as project default (do not ask again).

    • To define a new server:

      1. Select Manually define a new server.

      2. Either type the server host name or click the down-arrow in the Server host name field and select the server host from the drop-down list.

      3. Select the server type from the Select the server type list box.

        A description of the selected server displays under the list box.

        Note

        To change the order of the server list, click the down arrow in the View By field to open its drop-down list and select to view by Name, Host name, Vendor, or Version.

      4. To have the selected server be the default server for the project, select Set server as project default (do not ask again).

      5. Do one of the following:

        • Click Next.

          The New <servername> Connection Profile dialog appears with the server you created displayed in the Profile Name field.

        • Click Finish if you do not need to create a connection profile and skip the rest of this procedure.

      6. (Optional) Type a description in the Description field.

      7. To automatically connect to the server, select Auto-connect.

      8. Do one of the following:

        • Click Next.

          The Server Properties dialog appears with the Host, Port, Web Services Protocol, Web Services Port, and User Name fields populated.

        • Click Finish if EAServer uses the default port numbers, and you know the project you will run. Skip the rest of this procedure.

      9. Click in a field and change its information as needed.

      10. Click in the Password field and type a password.

        You must provide a user name and password to deploy the Web application to EAServer.

      11. (Optional) Click Browse and select a startup Script in the Startup Script field.

        If you set a Startup Script, you can start EAServer inside Web Application Development; otherwise, you must start EAServer manually outside of Web Application Development.

      12. (Optional) Type an argument in the Script Arguments field.

      13. Click Test Connection to test the connection to the server.

        A box appears stating either Ping succeeded or Ping failed. If the Ping fails, check to see if the following are correct: server name, http port, iiop port, username, and password.

  3. Click Next.

    The Add and Remove Projects dialog appears.

  4. (Optional) Do any of the following:

    • To add a project to run on the server, select the project in the Available projects list box and click Add.

    • To add all projects to run on the server, click Add All.

    • To remove a project from running on the server, select the project in the Configured projects list box and click Remove.

    • To remove a all projects from running on the server, click Remove All.

  5. Click Finish.
