Adding an Alert Message to a Business Process

After you have created and edited a message service for alerts, add an Assign activity, define its source and target variables for channels, ShortText and LongText, and then add the alert message service to your business process.

  1. Open your business process service. Select the Business Process tab.

  2. Add an Assign activity to your business process:

    1. Open the Tools Palette.

    2. Drag an Assign onto the design canvas.

    3. Select the Assign activity.

    4. Expand the Variables section, and drilldown to the alert message operation.

    5. Select the alert message operation to display its properties in the Properties section.

    6. Assign the source and target variables for Channels, ShortText, and LongText. Click in the field, and then click ... to define the Variable Reference for the alert message Channels, ShortText, and LongText. Click New to add variables.

      Note

See the Runtime Management Console online help for more information on defining alert channels, targets, and subscriptions.

  3. Add the alert message service operation to your business process service.

    1. Open the Service Explorer.

    2. Expand your alert message service to display all of its operations.

    3. Drag the operation onto the design canvas. Place it directly after the Assign activity.

Connect your business process to the Assign activity, and then connect the Assign activity to the message service.

  4. Complete your business process service.

Note
