Installing the Monitor Engine as a Windows Service

Use the command line utility to install the monitor engine as a Windows service.

To install the monitor engine as a Windows service:

  1. Using a command line utility, comment out the setlocal statement in the <installation directory>/Orch-5_1/bin/bt59daemon.cmd file.

  2. Execute the following command:

    WinServiceInstaller.exe <installation directory>/Orch-5_1/bin/bt59daemon.cmd

    Parameters

    ParameterRequired/OptionalDescription

    -i

    required

    Installs the WinServiceInstaller.exe as a Windows service.

    -u

    optional

    Uninstall the Windows service.

    -h

    optional

    Displays help and terminate.

    -n <name>

    optional

    Names the service. The default is Sybase Monitoring Service.

    -w <work dir>

    optional

    Specifies the working directory. The default directory is the location of the WinServiceInstaller.exefile.

    -s <env>=<val>

    optional

    Specifies the set and environment variable <env> to the value <val>. This parameter may be used multiple times.

  3. Verify that the monitor engine installed as a Windows service. Select Settings|Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services from the Windows Start menu.
