Defining SetTypes

A setType definition consists of a set of subcomponents (fields, statuses, operations, views, and alerts) that together provide the XML schema for a monitored message or object. These elements prescribe what field data to monitor, what operations to perform before storing the data in the Monitor database, which alert messages to generate, and how to display the aggregated data in the Monitor Console.

You must define the setType components before you can create a monitor service.

SetType Subcomponents

Component	Required/Optional	Description
Fields	Required	Contain the data you want to monitor.
Operations	Required	Store monitored data in the Monitor database.
Views	Required	Define how setType data is displayed in the Monitor Console
Statuses	Optional	Identify where a message is in the monitoring flow.
Alert messages	Optional	Provide time-based alerts.

When you connect to the Monitor Database, Sybase® WorkSpace provides the following default SetTypes.

Default SetTypes

SetType	Description
SybAuditMessage	Used to audit any custom wire format message sent to the MONITORQ.
SybFaultMessage	Used to handle Unwired Orchestrator generated fault messages.
