Customizing the Business Activity Monitoring Setup

Customize your message or object monitoring setup by manually editing the nnsyreg.dat file. To review the available options for each database and transport type, use the set of reference.txt files located in the \examples directory.

To customize the BAM setup:

  1. Locate the following directory:

    <installation directory>\Orch-5_1\monitor59\examples

  2. Make a backup copy of the directory before you begin editing files.

  3. Identify the database and transport connections you plan to use.

  4. Configure database connections.

    1. Open the nnsyreg.dat file using a text editor.

    2. Locate the key values for the database type(s) that you want to configure.

    3. Follow the instructions in the file to edit the database values.

  5. Configure messaging transport connections.

    1. Open the <transport name>reference.txt file that corresponds with the transport you want to use.

      Supported Transports

      Java Messaging Service

      jms_reference.txt

      IBM WebSphere MQ

      wmq_reference.txt

      Flat File

      file_reference.txt

      Microsoft Message Queuing

      msmq_reference.txt

    2. Follow the instructions in the <transport name>reference.txt file to edit transport values.

    3. Copy the edited transport properties from the <transport name>reference.txt files to the nnsyreg.dat file.

  6. Save and close the nnsyreg.dat file.

  7. Copy the edited version of the nnsyreg.dat file to the following directory:

    <installation directory>\Orch-5_1\bin
