Edit operation field names using the Properties view in the Monitor Design perspective. The field names determine the message data that is analyzed and aggregated during the monitoring process. If you have data entered into the system, you cannot delete or modify a field definition.
To edit operation field names:
In the editor view, select the operation for which you want to edit field names.
Expand the Operations category to display a list of operation definitions.
Select the operation definition for which you want to modify the field name.
The field names display in the Properties view
Open the Modify Message Field Name window. Click ... in the Value column of the Properties view.
Select a tab for the field names that you want to edit. Choose from the following:
Operation Field Name Properties
Type | Description |

Defined SetType Fields | Displays field names assigned to setTypes. |
Special Fields | Displays internal message structure elements. NoteIf you want to list to display items using the naming abbreviation conventions, check the Show abbreviated field names box. |
Message Field Names | Displays message field names defined in other operations. |
In the Field Name list, click a field name to display it in the Message Field Name field.
Edit the field name. Do the following:
Highlight a field name to display it in the Field Name field.
Edit the name and click Apply to add the new field name to the list assigned to that SetType.
Make all edits before exiting this window, using the Next and Prior buttons to move up and down in the field list.
Click OK to return to the Monitor Design perspective.
Edit the activity. Choose from the following:
Activities
Type | Valid for | Description |
---|---|---|
Nothing | All field types | The setType field remains unchanged. |
Update | All field types | Value contained in the message field is stored in the database. |
Rate | Rate field type | Rate calculated for the field is stored in the database. |
Add | Numeric field type | Adds the value of the current message field to the value of the existing setType field. Example If you want to keep an inventory count, you set the Activity to Add and set the Message Field Name to 1. Each time the operation hits the field, it increments by one. |
Subtract | Numeric field type | Subtracts the value of the current message field from the value of the existing setType field. |
Edit the constant. Choose from the following:
