Using SOAP Inspector for Service Testing

Use the SOAP Inspector in conjunction with the Web Service Clientto view raw SOAP messages. You can also use SOAP Inspector for debugging.

After enabling the service tester to interact with the SOAP inspector by selecting the Enable proxy settings option, confirm that the settings for the proxy are correct. Normally, the proxy will be the SOAP Inspector, which will be running on the local machine, so localhost should be used for Proxy host. The value of the Proxy port setting should be the same as the one used by the SOAP Inspector, which is displayed in the status bar when the SOAP inspector is started. To change the port used by the SOAP Inspector, go to Window|Preferences|Sybase|SOAP Inspector and edit the port value.

To Use SOAP Inspector for Service Testing:

  1. Change the parameters in the text of the generated Test Client.

  2. Go to Window|Show view|Other|Sybase|SOAP Inspector.

  3. From the Run menu, click Run....

  4. Click Add a new configuration.

  5. Enter information for the new configuration and click Run.

You can view both the results of running the new configuration and the raw SOAP message that was sent.

  6. You can save the response message by by clicking Save and entering a location for the saved file.
