Defining List and Detail Views

Use the Mobile Application Configuration dialog to define list and detail views.

The List/Detail section defines how a table is displayed on a mobile device. To better understand how List/Detail views work:

Create a mobile application with several columns, for example, a stock quote table.
Select the List/Detail section, and select one column for List view, and select all columns for the Detail view.
Save the mobile application, and select Preview. Select the Mobile Preview icon on the Preview page and select the device type from the drop-down list. The column you selected for List view displays.
To see detail information for the item you just selected, click the magnifying glass icon on the row. That is the Detail view, and displays all the columns you selected for Detail view.

Note

When you initially create a mobile application, all columns are selected for list and detail views by default. However, if you add columns later, for example by changing filter rules, these new columns are not added to the list/detail views. You need to go to the List/Detail page of the editor to reselect the desired columns.

The mobile application List/Detail section provides options for defining field parameters for any fields contained in your mobile application, and is available from the mobile application editor. See Setting Mobile Development Preferences if the List/Detail section does not display.

List view – options include:
- Name – the names of the columns in the table.
- Field Width – the display width of the field. Select the check box next to the field to display the checked field in List view. Highlight the field, and click Edit to edit the field. Enter the desired field width and click OK.
- Select All – select all fields.
- Deselect All – unselect all fields.
- Move Up – reorder the fields by moving the selected field up.
- Move Down – reorder the fields by moving the selected field down.
- Edit – modify the field width of the highlighted field.
Detail view options include:
- View Width – the display width of the selected fields. All fields must be the same width in the detail view.
- Name – the names of the fields.
- Select All – select all fields.
- Deselect All – unselect all fields.
- Move Up – reorder the fields by moving the selected field up.
- Move Down – reorder the fields by moving the selected field down.
Use the Device Customization optionsto customize the preentation of data on your mobile device.
- Device Screen Size – the screen size of your mobile device.
- Customization Template – the mobile template associated with the screen size.
- Search – select from a list of available customized template and associate it with a device.
- New – create a new template to associate with a device.
- Edit – edit a customized template.
- Remove – remove a customized template.
- Preview – preview your template selection.
