Creating Bar Graph Charts

You can create a bar graph chart for any mobile application that contains tabular data.

  1. Right-click the mobile application for which you are creating a bar graph chart and select Add Post Processing|Chart.

  2. Complete these fields:

    • Grid – select a grid for which the chart is created.

    • Chart Title – enter a title. (Optional)

    • Chart Legend – specify a location for the chart legend --None (no legend), Top (above the chart), Bottom (below the chart), Left (to the left of the chart), or Right (to the right of the chart).

    • Chart Height – accept the default height, which is in pixels, or enter a different value.

    • Chart Width – accept the default width, which is in pixels, or enter a different value.

    • Font Name – accept the default font—Sans Serif—or enter a different font name. The font you specify must be a TrueType font, and the font must be installed on the Unwired Accelerator machine to which you are connected.

TrueType fonts are device-independent fonts stored as outlines. You can size the fonts to any height, and they print exactly as they appear on the screen.

    • Output Type – select the output chart type from the drop-down list.

    • Chart Type – select Bar.

    • 3D Chart – creates a three dimensional chart.

    • Create an Image Map – create a clickable image map of the chart from which users can access the originating data.

When you select this option, you complete these additional fields:

      • Client Side – select this option if the chart generates client-side events.

      • Category Event Name – the name for the category.

      • Series Event Name – the name of the series.

      • Notify Now – send the category or series event immediately.

      • Notify Across Page – send the category or series event across pages if there is a listener on another page; otherwise, look for events on the current page.

      • Mobile Application Name – available only for Server Side events, Search for the mobile application which is listening for an event. When you enter a valid mobile application the resource ID and mobile application ID are automatically filled in.

      • Resource ID – the resource ID of the mobile application.

      • Mobile Application ID – the mobile application's ID.

  3. Click Preview to preview your chart, Next to continue (the Chart Details page appears).

You will not see the chart until you configure the second page. Preview allows you to see the original preview for deciding what data to chart. That is, the Preview section displays the original data from which the chart is built. The Chart Details section contains the fields where you define the chart's appearance.

  4. Complete these options:

    • X-Axis, Y-Axis Labels – enter labels for the X-axis and Y-axis of the chart. (Optional)

    • Category Labels – choose which data set to use as a label for the bar graphs.

    • Show Values – select this option to display the literal number of the data above each bar.

    • Series – represents one bar color of information. Choose meaningful names for display in the legend, and assign each data set a unique color for easy identification.

The Category Labels drop-down list determines which data you can select in Series. If the category label is "None," choose any row or column for data. If the category label is a column, choose only columns. If the category label is a row, choose only rows.

  5. Click Next for a preview of your chart. Click Finish. Click File | Save to save the chart.
