This topic describes the steps you must perform before Deploying Mobile Applications.
BlackBerry and M-Business simulators
Although not required, if the BlackBerry, and/or the M-Business test client software has been installed before Sybase WorkSpace, they can be accessed by selecting Run | External Tools, and the corresponding simulator:
M-Business Client
BlackBerry MDS Simulator
BlackBerry Device Simulator
Shutting down the simulators
If you do not shut down the simulators prior to closing Sybase WorkSpace:
The M-Business simulator closes with Sybase WorkSpace.
The BlackBerry simulator does not close. Eclipse generates a warning message that it will 'terminate' the external process, and Sybase WorkSpace shuts down. Ignore the warning message.
Before you deploy to non-BlackBerry devices
Before you can deploy mobile applications to non-BlackBerry mobile devices, you must:
Install the M-Business Anywhere Server and Client software, and create an M-Business Connect connection for each user. See "Installing M-Business server and client software" in Chapter 2, "Installation Tasks," in the version 7.0 Unwired Accelerator Installation Guide for instructions.
Create the group and public channels used to deploy the mobile applications. See "M-Business Anywhere," in Chapter 5, "Integrated Products" in the version 7.0 Unwired Accelerator Administration Guide for instructions.
Before you deploy to BlackBerry devices
Mobile applications deployed to BlackBerry devices do not require the M-Business Server. Instead, you can view them in either:
Offline mode - the mobile application has been created, and the Mobile Option set to "Offline BlackBerry". Then the application can be viewed from a BlackBerry device.
Online mode - the mobile application has been created, and packaged in a page and page group (which must be done from the Portal interface, not Sybase WorkSpace). It must be updated, then you can view it from the BlackBerry device.
For both options, the Unwired Accelerator Client must be installed on the BlackBerry device. You must:
Install the BlackBerry Server software (or simulator) on the server, and install the Unwired Accelerator Client software on the BlackBerry device (or simulator), and create Unwired Accelerator user accounts for the Unwired Accelerator Client. See "Installing BlackBerry server and client software," in Chapter 2, "Installation Tasks" of the version 7.0 Unwired Accelerator Installation Guide for instructions. Some of this information is also in the "BlackBerry,", Chapter 5, "Integrated Products" of the version 7.0 Unwired Accelerator Administration Guide.
You can view these guides from the Sybase WorkSpace bookshelf.
