Known Issues for Installation

Learn about known issues and apply workarounds for installing Adaptive Server.

Warning!  

If you have multiple Sybase products installed in the same $SYBASE directory, uninstalling one of them may make other Sybase products inoperable. If this happens, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the inoperable products.

551224 Running the installer in Chinese, Japanese or Korean returns a null pointer exception.
Workaround: Before running the installer in Chinese, Japanese or Korean, set this environment variable:_JAVA_OPTIONS="-Dswing.systemlaf=javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel". For example, in:
  • Bourne shell: export_JAVA_OPTIONS="Dswing.systemlaf=javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel"
  • C-shell: setenv_JAVA_OPTIONS "-Dswing.systemlaf=javx.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel"
550861 Installation hangs before the pre-install summary panel appears.

If the df command hangs, the installer will hang before the pre-install summary panel appears.

Workaround: Execute strace -e statfs, statfs64 df to identify the NFS mounts that have a problem. Then execute umount -l <path> to unmount all trouble NFS mounts. Rerun the installer.

Workaround: None.

427275 Installing an ESD overlay with Unified Agent.

The ESD overlay installation file does not replace the Unified Agent ARL.xml file. As a result, developer updates or changes to ARL.xml are not available because it has not been updated.

Workaround: Rename the old ARL.xmlbefore you run the installer.
