BPEL4WS 1.1 Other Activities

You can still design for WS-BPEL 2.0 the following BPEL4WS 1.1 activities. Some of them are renamed in WS-BPEL 2.0 language:


  • sequence

  • while

  • switch (renamed into "if activity" in WS-BPEL 2.0)

  • pick

  • wait

  • empty

  • terminate (renamed into "exit activity" in WS-BPEL 2.0)

  • throw

If you need to change target from BPEL4WS 1.1 to WS-BPEL 2.0, note that the top-level compensation handler is removed and the "variableAccessSerializable" extended attribute in scopes and top level processes is replaced with "isolated" extended attribute.
