Linking Data to an External Model Object

You can further specify the nature of data objects by linking them to a CDM, OOM or PDM object from a model open in the workspace.

When you link a data to an object external to the model, the object name is displayed in the Definition box of the data property sheet.

  1. Open the data property sheet, and select a type from the Type list.

  2. Click the Select Definition Object tool to the right of the Definition box to select an object from the models open in the workspace.
  3. Select an object in the tree view and click OK.

    The object name is displayed in the Definition box of the data property sheet. You can click the Properties tool to the right of the box to open the property sheet of the target object.

    If you change the type of the data so that it no longer corresponds with the object defined in the Definition box, you will be prompted to confirm the change. If you do so, the link between the data and the object is removed.

Note:

Click the Remove Link tool to the right of the Definition box to delete the link between the data and the object.
