Component Instance Properties

You can modify an object's properties from its property sheet. To open a component instance property sheet, double-click its diagram symbol or its Browser entry in the Component instances folder.

The General Tab contains the following properties:

Property

Description

Name

Specifies the name of the item, which should be clear and meaningful, and should convey the item's purpose to non-technical users.

Code

Specifies the technical name of the object, which is used for generating code or scripts.

Comment

Descriptive comment for the component instance.

Stereotype

Extends the semantics of the object beyond the core UML definition.

Cardinality

Specific number of occurrences that the component instance can have, for example: 0...1.

Component

Component of which the component instance is an instance. If you change the component name in this box, the name of the component instance is updated in the model.

Component type

Read-only box that shows the type of the component from which the component instance is coming.

Web service

Indicates that the component instance is an instance of a Web service component.

If you want to list all component instances of a component, click the Component Instances tabbed page in the Dependencies tab of the component property sheet.
