Reverse Engineering PowerBuilder Extended Attributes

The reverse engineering feature reads the PowerBuilder extended attributes contained in a database and writes them into the appropriate tables and columns in a PDM.

During reverse engineering (see Generating PowerBuilder Extended Attributes), certain reversed extended attributes are compared with the translated default values in the PowerBuilder extension file. If these attributes match, the reversed value is replaced by the default value from the extension file.

Select Tools > PowerBuilder > Reverse Extended Attributes.

The PowerBuilder Extended Attributes Reverse Engineering dialog box is displayed.
Click the Connect to a Data Source tool to open the Connect to a Data Source dialog box.
Select a machine or file data source and click Connect.

The selected data source is displayed in the Data Source box in the upper part of the PowerBuilder Extended Attributes Reverse Engineering dialog box.
Select the tables you want to reverse engineer.
Click OK to start reverse engineering.

The Output window displays the reverse engineering messages.
