If you are running RHEL 5 or higher, use the following settings:
kernel.exec-shield = 0
kernel.randomize_va_space = 0
The following patches are required for GUI components to work properly:

Adaptive Server requires the following variable setting:
For glibc version 2.4 set LD_POINTER_GUARD to 1
For glibc version 2.5 set LD_POINTER_GUARD to 0
