Linux x86-64 requires 32-bit libraries to run client applications, such as Sybase Central. To ensure that you have the correct libraries for installation, read “Libraries for client applications” in the Sybase IQ Installation and Configuration Guide.
Before you install Sybase IQ on Linux x64-86, you must also install the following:
libncurses.so.5
To find the ncurses version on your installation, type rpm -q ncurses at a shell prompt.
compat-libstdc++-296
To find the compatibility version on your installation, type rpm -q -a | grep compat at a shell prompt.
Before you install Sybase IQ on Red Hat 3.0 releases, you must install the Red Hat compatibility package compat-libstdc++.
Before you install Sybase IQ on Red Hat 5, you must install the required libraries. You must have an active Red Hat license. Enter the following at the command prompt to install the libraries:
yum install compat-libstdc++-296
yum install compat-libstdc++-33
yum install libXp.i386
Installing Sybase IQ 12.7 GA on a Red Hat 5 system returns the following message, which you can safely ignore:
Current O/S release level: Enterprise Linux Server release 5 (Tikanga) Required O/S release level: Enterprise Linux AS release 3
The current O/S level is less than suggested for running of Sybase IQ.
You will need to upgrade the O/S before attmpting to run this. Do you want to continue <Y/N>?
You do not need to upgrade the O/S if you install Sybase IQ 12.7 ESD #3 and higher releases.
