Installing Sybase IQ 12.6 with sybinstall returns an error like the following:
Copying of Sybase IQ failed tar: Read 2048 bytes from -
This error occurs when installing on a Linux system with version 1.1.4 of the tar utility. This problem is corrected in Sybase IQ 12.6 ESD #4 and higher releases.
To work around the problem:
Move tar version 1.1.4 to a backup location.
Download the GNU source for tar version 1.1.3 from the Sybase download site.
Extract tar-1.13.tar.Z.
Replace tar version 1.1.4 on your system with tar version 1.1.3.
Extract the installation from the .tgz file.
Run sybinstall again.
