Message Flow Optimization

Message flow activity represents transferring data from market data feeds to subscribers, then loading it into the RAPCache and RAPStore databases.

• Message Building Optimization
  Message building is the first stage of message flow, and involves receiving data from the market data feeds and building messages using the publisher API.
• Message Transfer Optimization
  Message transfer is the second stage of message flow, and involves using the publisher API to trasmitt messages over the network to the RAPCache and RAPStore subscribers.
• Message Loading Optimization
  Message loading is the third, and last stage of message flow, and involves loading messages into the RAPCache and the RAPStore databases.
• Causes of Dropped Packets
  RAP drops UDP packets if the publisher sends packets too quickly for the network to keep up, or if the subscriber does not load data as quickly as it receives it.
• Eliminating or Reducing Dropped Packets
  Eliminate or reduce dropped packets by using multiple multicast channels, a high-speed network interface, multiple network interfaces, systems with additional CPUs or cores, by configuring your system so the publisher and subscriber host computers are on the same subnet, or by configuring your network to allow larger MTU sizes.
