Generally, installing the Cluster Edition includes these actions:
Pre-installation tasks, such as making sure you have the correct operating system patches and are using the sybase login. See “Pre-installation tasks” for more information.
Verifying that all clusters using the previous version of the Cluster Edition are shut down before beginning the software installation.
Generating and installing the SySAM license. See the SySAM section starting with “Pre-installation tasks for SySAM”.
Verifying that the installation is performed to a shared file system location that is visible from all nodes. See “System requirements” for details.
Verifying that the network requirements are in order.
Installing the software. See Chapter 2, “Installing the Software.”
Configuring and starting the cluster. See Chapter 3, “Creating and Starting the Cluster.”
