Determining RDS Message Types Based on FIX Messages

RAP determines which type of RDS message to generate based on the type of instrument being processed.

Some FIX messages apply to different instruments. Since RDS does not support optional fields and not all of the FIX data mappings defined in this chapter contain all of the data to fully populate the standard RDS messages, it is necessary to define RDS message types which are similar to the full RDS messages, but have fields omitted.

• Stock Instruments
  Stock instruments are identified by the field types and values within the field.
• Bond Instruments
  Bonds instruments are identified by the presence of a CFICode and two characters within the field.
• Mutual Fund Instruments
  Mutual fund instruments are identified by the field types and values within the field.
• Option Instruments
  Option instruments are identified by the field types and values within the field.
• Index Instruments
  Index instruments are identified by the field type and the values within the field.
