RAP is available in two versions: RAP – The Trading Edition Standard (RAP Standard) and RAP – The Trading Edition Enterprise (RAP Enterprise).
Both versions:
- Enable the consolidation of market data from vendor feeds, historical time series data, real-time trades and quotes (TAQ) data, and
reference data into one integrated analytics platform.
- Process market data, send it over the network, and load it into the appropriate data stores, including both an in-memory cache database that provides immediate data access, and a historical repository that can efficiently manage massive historical and corporate reference data sets.
- Include a historical repository that supports databases of unlimited size, advanced data compression, clustered deployments, and OLAP analytics.
RAP Enterprise also includes these additional features and options:
- SQL functions for financial time series and forecasting analysis. The time series SQL functions call two integrated third-party libraries, the IMSL C Stat and C Math libraries, developed by Visual Numerics. The IMSL libraries contain C functions that implement sophisticated time series analytics. The historical repository automatically loads the IMSL libraries as needed when a valid SQL function is called. See Sybase IQ Time Series Guide.
- In-Database Analytics—Partner Solutions option, with user-defined scalar and aggregate functions that incorporate proprietary and commercial statistical and mathematical libraries written in C/C++ directly within the historical repository’s high-performance user-defined function (UDF) execution environment.
- Advanced VLDB management features including range partitioning and the ability to perform finely tuned data placement, that is, placing less critical data on cheaper storage. This feature set is often referred to as hierarchical storage management. See Sybase IQ System Administration Guide: Volume 1.
- RAP Enterprise allows users to optionally scale clustered deployments of the historical repository to three or more servers. Customers must obtain additional licenses to run the historical repository on additional resources. The additional servers are licensed through the RAP Multiplex Option and their cores are licensed with some combination of RAP Enterprise and RAP Multiplex Option licenses. When you administer RAP Multiplex Option licenses through SPDC, generate separate licenses for the RAP Multiplex Option cores and the RAP Multiplex Option servers. For more details on RAPStore clusters, see Using Sybase IQ Multiplex.
Note: Customers who originally purchased RAP – The Trading Edition R2 (or earlier) or Risk Analytics Platform version 3.x (or earlier) are able to license special "Legacy" editions of RAP that provide additional entitlements. If you were a customer of these prior versions of RAP, please contact Sybase Customer Support to have the "Legacy" edition of RAP added to your customer profile.
