Installing Sybase IQ Network Client Tools on Linux

Install the Sybase IQ Network Client tools using the install utility sybinstall.

Prerequisites

Sybase IQ Network Client for Linux contains the components required for connection to a network server, and is compatible with IQ servers on all supported server platforms. Do not install the Sybase IQ Network Client in the same directory as an IQ server.

Task

Change to the installation directory using % cd $RAP/RAPStore.
Start sybinstall.

You can run this utility as a series of menus with prompts or you can bypass menus using the sybinstall command line parameters.
Choose a method of installation.
- To run sybinstall with menus and prompts, enter:
```
% /cdrom/sybinstall
```
- To install the default products:
```
% /cdrom/sybinstall -autoinstall -I_accept_sybase_license
```
On the Welcome screen, press Enter.
Type the number that corresponds to your location.
If you cannot read the license agreement or find a license agreement that matches your location, you can find all available license agreements on the Sybase Web site, http://www.sybase.com/softwarelicenses. Re-run sybinstall passing the parameter -I_accept_sybase_license, for example:
```
% /cdrom/sybinstall -I_accept_sybase_license
```
The first screen of the Software Test and Evaluation License Agreement appears.
Read and accept the license agreement. As you read, hold down the Enter key until you reach the end of the agreement.

The script next lists the amount of free space available in your $RAP/RAPStore directory, and the amount of space required for the three components it installs.
Choose the products you want to install:
- To install all four products, type S.
- To unselect or change any of the installed products, type the option number at the prompt.
Type S to start the installation.

Note:

An installation procedure log is created in $RAP/RAPStore/sybinstall.log. If the log file cannot be created in this directory, the path defaults to /tmp/sybinstall.log.
