Adding the RAPCache Administrator

Create a password for the RAPCache default administrator account to protect your production environment.

The RAPCache installation creates an administrator called sa. There is no initial password set for this account. An sa user can use any database on Adaptive Server Enterprise with full privileges.

Sybase recommends that you create passwords that are at least six characters in length, and that include both letters and numbers.

Warning!  If you change the RAPCache password, you must also change and encrypt the passwords for various agents.
  1. In the left pane, select Adaptive Server Enterprise > Default <RAPCache_server> .
  2. Select the Logins folder.
  3. In the right pane, right-click sa and choose Properties.
  4. In the Login Properties dialog, click the Parameters tab, then click Change Password.

    The Parameters tab also includes options that allow you to set the minimum password length, maximum login attempts, and expiration period.

  5. In the Change Password dialog:

    • Type your new password in New Password box.

    • Retype the password in the Confirm New Password box.

  6. Click OK.
