Managing Servers with Sybase Central

Sybase Central is a management console for Sybase products.

Sybase Central, a management console for Sybase products, lets you manage multiple servers from a single location, and perform complex administration tasks without using the Transact-SQL commands or system stored procedures.

• Starting Sybase Central
  Sybase Central can be started from the command line.
• Changing the RAPCache RAP_USER password
  If you change the RAP_USER password in the RAPCache, encrypt the password, and update the appropriate values in the configuration files.
• Registering the RAPStore Database Server with Sybase Central
  To access the RAPStore Server from Sybase Central, you must register the Sybase IQ plug-in.
• Setting the System Administrator password
  RAPCache and RAPStoreServer include different administrator default logins. Change these default logins to protect your system.
• Encrypting RAP Passwords
  If you change the server administrator and RAPCache administrator passwords, you must update and encrypt the password(s) in the agent plugins.
• Creating RAP users
  You must create separate user and group accounts for RAPCache and RAPStoreServer for users to query the databases. User and group models in Adaptive Server Enterprise and Sybase IQ differ.
