This chapter describes some elements of cluster architecture in greater detail. These discussions provide supportive information; in general, a database administrator cannot influence the features described here using Transact-SQL commands or configuration parameters.
Many subsystems of non-clustered Adaptive Server work in a shared-disk cluster environment; others have been developed specifically for the Cluster Edition. These subsystems are:
Lock manager
Buffer manager
Cluster interprocess communication (CIPC)
Recovery (start time and failover handling)
