This section describes features not supported in this version of Adaptive Server.
There are several Adaptive Server features and utilities that
are not supported in the Cluster Edition.
The following utility programs are not supported for the Cluster
Edition:
-
sqlupgrade
-
sqlloc
-
srvbuild
The following Adaptive Server features are not supported for
the Cluster Edition:
-
Archive database access (ADA)
-
Distributed Transaction Management (DTM).
-
mount, unmount,
and dbshutdown commands.
-
Adaptive Server disk mirroring.
-
High-availability (HA) option does not apply. In
the Cluster Edition, HA is integrated into Adaptive Server.
-
Since the Cluster Edition does not include the Adaptive
Server Transaction Coordinator (ASTC), Component Integration Services
(CIS) for the Cluster Edition does not provide a full two-phase
commit. CIS handles queries that include remote servers in a “best
effort” basis.
-
Replication using Adaptive Server Enterprise Replicator.
-
Maximum number of instances supported in Adaptive Server Cluster Edition – while
Adaptive Server Cluster Edition contains architecture for
up to 32 instances in a cluster, 15.0.3 Cluster Edition is currently certified
and supported on 4 instances only.
-
The shutdown with wait =
time feature introduced in Adaptive Server 15.0.2 is not available in the Cluster Edition. If you include with wait =
time with your shutdown command, you see an error message such as "Command 'WITH WAIT='nn:nn:nn'' is unsupported," and the shutdown occurs without any wait.
Note:
The ASE-15_0/bin directory
includes a utility called iofenceutil, which duplicates
the functionality of qrmutil --fence_capable,
but does not require the quorum device and also returns an exit
code. This is an internal utility used by sybcluster and
is not designed for regular use.
