Upgrading companions with a binary replacement

Upgrading Adaptive Servers running in a Veritas cluster with a binary replacement resets permissions on sybha and sybhauser. You must set the correct permissions for sybha and sybhauser after you upgrade or apply an emergency bug fix (EBF):

  1. Disable the Veritas HAase agent so you can operate both nodes independently.

  2. Shutdown the companion servers.

  3. Apply the Adaptive Server binary replacement. See the documentation accompaning the binary replacement for more information.

  4. Run sybha and sybhauser to set the correct permissions. See “sybha executable”.

  5. Restart the companion servers.

  6. Run installHAase.pl. See “Installing the HAase agent”.

  7. Disable the companion mode so you can operate both nodes independently.

  8. Run the installmaster, installcommit, installsecurity, instmsgs.ebf and installhasvss, scripts to update system procedures, security, messages, and so on.

  9. Enable the Veritass HAase agent to reenter the normal companion mode:

    dbcc ha_admin (' ', 'state_machine', 'restart')
