Sybase IQ is designed to work best with denormalized schemas common in data warehouse design. In a traditional relational database, normalization aids the goals of transaction processing by removing redundancy and improving consistency. In a data warehouse, especially a very large one, you need to be more concerned with the speed of processing queries against enormous amounts of data.
