To create a column index using Sybase Central, follow these steps.
Creating an index with Sybase Central
Connect to the database.
Select the table in which the column appears.
Open the Indexes folder.
Double-click the Add Index icon, enter a name for the index, and click Next.
Select an index type. A High Group is created if you do not click another index type.
Optionally set the number of records added before each notification message, and click Next.
Select the column(s) you want to index, and click Next.
Enter attributes for the index as appropriate, and click Finish to create the index.
