[CR #354109] jConnect does not support roman8 character set. Because this is the default character set on HP-UX platforms, jConnect clients cannot connect to Adaptive Server.
Workaround: Install the iso_1 character set on Adaptive Server. From the jConnect clients, specify “iso_1” as the character set using the “CharSet” connection property. Please note roman8 and iso_1 character sets are not identical, so there could be conversion errors in some cases, jConnect clients will need to handle such conversion exceptions.
