[Bug #238128] If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Adaptive Server to version 12.5, the installation process can add additional information to the existing system path and cause it to exceed maximum character limits.
Workaround: Remove your existing Sybase paths from the system path:
Select Start | Settings | Control Panel | System | Environment, and update the variable called ComSpec to:
C:\WINNT\System32\cmd /E:32767
