Defining colors

You can define custom colors to use in most painters and in objects you create.

The sample displays the Color dialog box. At top left is an area labeled Basic colors with eight columns and six rows of boxes displaying basic colors. Below it is a Custom colors area of sixteen boxes in two rows with a button labeled Define Custom Colors. At right is the Color Matrix, a large rectangle that displays the selected color, and next to it a narrow slider for adjusting the color in the matrix. At bottom right are a small display box labeled Color / Solid and boxes with values for Hue, Sat, Lum, Red, Green, and Blue. At bottom right is an Add to Custom Colors button.

StepsTo define custom colors:

  1. In a painter that uses custom colors, select Design>Custom Colors from the menu bar.

    The Color dialog box displays.

  2. Define your custom colors using the Color dialog box and click OK.

    Basic colors

    Click the basic color closest to the color you want to define to move the pointer in the color matrix and slider on the right.

    Modify an existing color: click a custom color, then modify the color matrix and slider. Define a new color: click an empty box, define the color, and click Add to Custom Colors.

    Click in the color matrix to pick a color.

    Move the slider on the right to adjust the color's attributes.

    After you have designed the color, click this button to add the custom color to the Custom colors palette on the left.
