To uninstall a DirectConnect installation, use the InstallShield uninstall program. This removes all servers, all common files, and all required components. After the uninstall runs, you may need to delete any existing files and directories in the directory where DirectConnect was installed.
You may need to stop the SySAM service first; otherwise,
you will not be able to delete certain files and directories. Also,
before uninstalling Sybase software, shut down all Sybase applications
and processes.
You can invoke the uninstall procedure using either the GUI or the console method. Sybase recommends that you use the GUI method.
Log in to your machine using an account with “administrator” privileges, then shut down all other processes for the components you are uninstalling.
If you set up DirectConnect for Oracle as a Windows
service, you must remove the service using instdco.exe as
described in the DirectConnect for Oracle User’s
Guide.
To uninstall in GUI mode
Enter one of the following:
Using Windows Explorer:
Go to the directory where your application is installed.
Select the uninstall directory.
Select the application you want to uninstall.
Double-click the uninstall icon. The wizard appears.
Using the Add/Remove program:
Go to Start | Setting | Control panel | Add/Remove Programs dialog box
Select the application you want to remove
Click on Change/Remove. The Wizard appears.
The Welcome window appears.
Click Next, to display the list of selected products and components that were installed.
All the products and components that were installed are displayed and already checked to allow you to remove the total installation. If you do not want to remove a product or component, deselect or “uncheck” that product or component. Click Next.
A summary of all the products and components is displayed. Click Next.
A message indicating that an uninstall is in progress. When this is completed, a message is displayed indicating a successful uninstall. Click Next to end the Uninstall.
To uninstall in console mode
Go to the %SYBASE% directory, and enter the following:
%SYBASE%\uninstall.exe -console
The uninstall program starts.
Choose the DirectConnect software product you want to uninstall.
The DirectConnect software product you chose is uninstalled.
