Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is an industry standard for accessing directory services, which allow components to look up information from an LDAP server that stores and manages server, user, and software information used throughout the enterprise or over a network.
LDAP directories are an infrastructure that provide:
A network-based alternative to the traditional Sybase interfaces file.
A single, hierarchical view of information, including users, software, resources, networks, files, and so on.
You use the libtcl.cfg and the libtcl64.cfg files to specify the LDAP server name, port number, DIT base, user name, and password to authenticate the connection to an LDAP server. LDAP defines the communication protocol and the contents of messages exchanged between clients and servers.
