You can start, stop, and pause a server both automatically and manually from the Services applet in the Control Panel.
If
you are running Adaptive Server and the Windows NT Process Viewer, and
Adaptive Server is listed in the Process Viewer, you may not be
able to restart Adaptive Server after you shut it down. This is
because the Process Viewer holds some Registry resources, even after
the viewed process is closed. Shut down the Process Viewer before
you restart Adaptive Server.
