Choosing default and nondefault devices

sp_diskdefault lets you plan space usage carefully for performance and recovery, while allowing users to create or alter databases.

Make sure these devices are not default devices:

NoteIf you are using disk mirroring or segments, you should exercise caution in deciding which devices you add to the default list with sp_diskdefault. In most cases, devices that are to be mirrored or databases that will contain objects placed on segments should allocate devices specifically, rather than being made part of default storage.
