This chapter describes Sybase Enterprise Portal 6.0 – Enterprise Edition. Sybase recommends that you read through this chapter before beginning your installation.
Enterprise Portal 6.0 is a comprehensive set of tools, services, and application server, designed to give you maximum flexibility when designing your portal by offering a wide selection of solutions from which you can choose.
There are two different types of Enterprise Portal installations. The components installed depend upon the type of installation you perform. The types of installations are:
The typical installation – contains Sybase Enterprise Security functionality, which provides LDAP support, single sign-on, and advanced access control features. The typical installation options are:
Adaptive Server® Anywhere 9.0
Sybase EAServer 4.2.2
Sybase Enterprise Security 6.0
Sybase Enterprise Portal 6.0, Portal Interface, and Portal Studio
The custom installation – allows you to choose from a variety of installation scenarios. You can install a new database, or utilize a database that is already installed on your system. You can install a new application server, or utilize an application server that is already installed on your system. The custom installation installs:
The selected database (for example, Adaptive Server Anywhere 9.0)
The selected application server (for example, EAServer 4.2.2)
Sybase Enterprise Security 6.0 into the selected database and application server
Sybase Enterprise Portal 6.0, Portal Interface, and Portal Studio, into the selected database and application server
The installation CD also contains the Search directory, which is used to install Portal Search after installing Enterprise Portal. The Search directory contains:
Docs – contains Autonomy server and portlet documentation.
Portlets – contains:
AutonomyPortletsforSybaseEP6.1.war – contains the Autonomy portlets.
AutonomyPortlets.Import.xml – imports the portlets and pages contained in the .war file to Portal Studio.
Autonomy.tar.gz – contains the directories and executables needed to set up and run the Autonomy Servers.
