New Storage for text and image Data

As part of 12.0 performance enhancements, Sybase replaced the old scan method used to access text and image data with an access method based on a new st-node structure. which wholly or partially (depending on the size of the text data) resides on the first text page. The st-node contains pointers to each set of contiguous text pages. For a description of how st-nodes work, see the TechNote New Text and Image Data Storage.

Because of problems arising in early versions of ASE 12.0 and 12.5, it is recommended that you apply some bug fixes before accessing your text and image pages. See the following TechNotes for a discussion of text/image issues.
